We are delighted to announce that the “biennial Castle Meeting” New trends on Rock, Paleo and Environmental magnetism will be held for the first time in France, at Collonges-la-Rouge in Corrèze. The essence of this symposium, which has been sustained through the 18 previous editions, is to provide a casual setting for experts from all over the world to easily share and discuss their ongoing research in a relaxing atmosphere.
With one oral session at a time and lots of opportunities for open discussion and poster presentations, the Castel Meeting offers a special chance of discovering the large spectrum of research made effective by rock magnetism techniques. Thanks to its format, this congress is ideally suited for young researchers to present their work and develop their professional network.
Original contributions dealing with any of the following topics are welcome:
Rock magnetism and its physical background
Rock magnetism applied to activities with potential economic interest (e.g., mineralization processes and hydrocarbon exploration)
Palaeomagnetism and Fluctuations of the Earth’s magnetic field : from secular variation to polarity reversals.
Magnetic dating
Palaeomagnetism and/or marine magnetic anomalies applied to tectonics
Coupling between palaeomagnetic data and geodynamo models
Environmental magnetism
Magnetic record of global changes
Rock magnetic fabrics
Assessment of the quality of the palaeomagnetic and rock-magnetic data
Two-days short course
The 19th Castle Meeting will be preceded by a two-day short course related to conference. Opened to PhD candidates and postdocs only, availability is limited to 20 Participants 20 undergraduate / postgraduate students.
