The biennial Castle Meeting – New Trends in Rock, Paleo and Environmental Magnetism will be held for the first time in France, in Collonges-la-Rouge (Corrèze). Building on 18 previous editions, it brings together the international community working on rock, paleomagnetic and environmental magnetism in a relaxed, single-track format that encourages open discussion. We invite original contributions spanning theoretical approaches, numerical modeling, and new experimental data in these fields.
Invited Speakers :
Prof. Andrew Biggin, University of Liverpool, UK.
Dr. Clara Maurel, CNRS and University of Aix-Marseille, France.
Prof. Andrew Roberts, The Australian National University, Canberra, Australia
Prof. Ricardo Trindade, University of São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil.
Two-days short course
The 19th Castle Meeting will be preceded by a two-day short course related to conference. Opened to Master students, PhD candidates, and postdocs in priority, availability is limited to 20 participants. See the program by visiting the page "Short course program".
Venue
The congress will take place at the VVF holidays club, 800 m from the medieval village of Collonges la Rouge, which is classified as one of France's most beautiful villages. Isolated from all urban activity, this site has 70 gites for accommodation hidden away in an oak forest. It has a large conference room and numerous leisure facilities (heated swimming pool, hamman, tennis court, etc.). The region is one of France's most popular tourist destinations, which means that accompanying persons who are not taking part in the congress will be able to enjoy a rich program of sightseeing tours.
The medieval village of Collonges-la-Rouge: View of Saint-Pierre church, built of red sandstone in the late 11th and 12th centuries, and enlarged in the late Middle Ages. It was fortified at the end of the 14th century.
